Although this is a scheduled post (cause I don’t want to miss this), it still give me a goosebumps. Never I thought I’ll keep this blog alive for 20 f***n years!
20 years ago, exactly on this day (19 November) I had my first blog post. This was during my early college days and also when I was (still?) a “Linux activist”.
Some memorable things on this blog from these past 20 years:
- Although I keep the same blog until today, this blog has moved around from one server to another for several times. It started from silaban.web.ugm.ac.id (free host provided by the university), moved to okto.silaban.net (provided for free by one of my relatives), changed domain ku.catat.in, back to okto.silaban.net. Finally on May 2015 I decided to move to another server and also change to a new domain LabanaPost.com and keep the name until today (9 years).
- I posted a 10 years reflection of this blog on 2014. Hopefully I get the energy to make the same recap on this day. I only setup the proper Google Analytics (GA4) for this blog on Apr 2024 (after left it on UA version for years).
- I stopped develop or made custom WordPress theme for this blog. I no longer have the time, and it requires more effort now compared to early days of this blog. Responsive theme is a must now. WordPress also keep make new updates that require theme updating.
- I started to write in English last year (2023). Just for fun. Whenever I feel I want to write in English. I wanted to do this since ~15 years ago. But my English was really bad back then. Well, actually in 2008 I had a “secret” blog for my English content. The idea was to have a blog specific for “international” readers.. But it has only 5 or 6 posts and becoming forgotten.
- I wanted to keep the series of Bulha & Haran. Hopefully I can write a new story of them.
- Some new interesting insights.., 10 years ago I see the shift of visitors’ device from majority desktop visitors to mobile devices. It was make sense, because that was when smartphone getting super popular in Indonesia (most of Indonesians accessing internet first time via mobile phone). But now.., interestingly, desktop becoming major visitor again of this blog.. And I don’t know why. Because it’s mobile friendly anyway since long time ago.
